(Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Hisaki Ikebata; hereinafter referred to as “CrowdChem”) has raised 290 million yen in a pre-Series A round led by PKSHA Algorithm Fund No. 2 Limited Partnership, with new equity investments from HIRAC FUND No. 2 Limited Partnership, Hokuriku Startup Community Fund Limited Partnership, Hokuriku Region Venture Fund Limited Partnership, and ANRI Fund No. 5 Limited Partnership.

The funds raised will be used to strengthen the algorithms and expand the data of our “CrowdChem Data Platform,” and to accelerate technology and product development.

Investors in this round:
・PKSHA Algorithm Fund No. 2 Limited Partnership
・HIRAC FUND No. 2 Limited Partnership
・Hokuriku Startup Community Fund Limited Partnership
・Hokuriku Region Venture Fund Limited Partnership
・ANRI Fund No. 5 Limited Partnership

Background and Purpose of the Fundraising

Since the release of the “CrowdChem Data Platform,” there has been an increase and expansion in customized analysis projects using proprietary algorithms, and we have also seen growing interest from overseas. Therefore, we conducted this fundraising round to further strengthen our data expansion prediction models, enhance operations, and establish an overseas data collection team.

About CrowdChem

Founded in 2022, CrowdChem launched the “CrowdChem Data Platform” on June 15, 2023, to address challenges faced by the chemical-related industries.

About the CrowdChem Data Platform

The “CrowdChem Data Platform” provides insights and knowledge in the chemical field based on data independently collected by the company. The platform includes features such as material property prediction and recommendation functions, which facilitate the work of users in the chemical industry and foster new discoveries in the research & development field.

The platform also integrates proprietary machine learning models capable of learning from various fields’ patents and papers, allowing users to incorporate information on raw material compositions, process conditions, and equipment details as input data. For example, in the field of lithium-ion batteries, the machine learning model can connect a series of processes, from electrode structure to electrolyte composition and cycle test results.

CrowdChem’s Proprietary Algorithms and Implementation Track Record

Our technology is unique in that it can learn data from diverse fields, such as paints and cosmetics, simultaneously, and predict the potential for repurposing raw materials and processes used in other fields.

We believe this technology contributes to promoting research and development and sales activities of chemical manufacturers and the utilization of materials in the automotive, cosmetics, and semiconductor industries.

Output from our patent-pending technology: This technology connects information on processes, raw materials, and performance involved in the production of lithium-ion batteries. Using a machine learning model, it can not only detect critical processes affecting performance but also predict performance changes when raw materials or process conditions are altered.

This technology has been highly evaluated for its potential and is already being utilized for material research and development and application exploration by major chemical manufacturers. It is also being used in research and development by automotive manufacturers.

Future Outlook

In October 2024, we plan to carry out a large-scale renewal of the analysis services that have been provided as “Customized Services” up to now.

[Key Points of the New Service]

・Implementation of an experimental database included in the patent
・Proposal of new material formulations presented in a ranked format
・Provides reports in a short period without the need for existing data
